Government to support members of OPS - UDENWA

The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Chief Achike Udenwa says the present administration will support members of the Organized Private Sector-OPS, to take advantage of the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA).

Chief Udenwa stated this at a sensitization workshop on opportunities and challenges available in doing business with the United States held in Kano.

Represented by the Assistant Director, Trade Promotion in the Ministry, Mr. Akpa Odii , the Minister said the essence of the workshop was not only to sensitize the OPS members but also to educate them on the advantages inherent in the TIFA provisions, which were meant to promote trade and investment activities between the two countries.

He used the forum to call on Nigerian Manufacturers to ensure high quality products that meet international standards.

Governor Ibrahim Shekarau of Kano State challenged participants at the workshop to use the experience gained to package products that would be unique for export to the United States of America.

Represented by the State Commissioner for Commerce, Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim Yakassai, the Governor commended the organisers of the forum which he said would enable members of the OPS in Kano and neighboring states to be well equipped for the task ahead.
