Farmers call on FG to subsidise fertilizer to boost production

Farmers in the country want the Federal Government to subsidise fertilizer so as to boost farmer’s production.

 

The National President of the Cassava growers Association of Nigeria, Chief Moses Ayinmodu stated this in an interview with Radio Nigeria in Abuja.

He called on the Government to support farmers Cooperative Societies and Associations to purchase the product directly from the source.

Chief Ayinmodu who called for proper implementation of the nation’s Agricultural policies to enhance food production observed that the era of relying on foreign countries for food is over.

In his remark, the President of All formers Association Kogi State, Dr Tunde Arosanyin said the price of fertilizer for this year’s farming season was too high to achieve government food security goals.

He called on State governments to further subsidise the product to enable the farmers improve on their farming activities.
