The Enugu State Government says it will support the incoming local facilities to improve the condition of the people at the grassroots.
Speaking during the commencement of the PDP campaign for the forthcoming local government elections in the State, Governor Sullivan Chime described local government campaign as a very important issue that concerns the grassroots, urging the candidates to be serious with it and avoid violence during the elections.
Governor Chime thanked the people of the State for their support during the previous elections, adding that, out of the seventeen positions for the PDP Chairmanship primaries in the State, ten were turned unopposed.
In a remark, the Deputy Senate President, Chief Ike Ekweremadu urged the candidates to strive to restore the State back to its past glory while the Secretary of the PDP, Chief Bernard Eze warned against involvement in negative tendencies that could tarnish the image of the party.
The State Chairman of the PDP, Chief Onyioha Nwanjoku stressed the need to enlighten those at the grass root and announce he result at local government councils after the election.
Correspondent reports that the local government election in Enugu will take place on the fifteenth of this month.
