Some flights were cancelled or rescheduled nationwide on Tuesday for three hours following the closure of the country’s airspace by air traffic controllers.

The Controllers said that they took the action in solidarity with one of their colleagues, Mr. Martins Umoh, who died earlier on Tuesday.

The alleged that Mr. Umoh had a motor accident four months ago and was admitted at the National Hospital, Abuja but the Management of Nigeria Airspace Management Agency, NAMA, did not render him any assistance.

In the meantime, negotiations will take place between the Union and Aviation Authorities to resolve the matter.
