Speaker calls for increased allocation to Delta region

The Speaker of the House of the Representatives Mr. Dimeji Bankole has called for more budgetary allocation to States in the Niger Delta region to enable hem to embark on development projects.

 

Mr. Bankole during a courtesy call on the Akwa Ibom State Governor Obong Godswill Akpabio in Uyo regretted that the Niger Delta region had been neglected by previous administrations in the country.


 He gave an assurance that the National Assembly would take steps to correct the mistakes of the past by giving adequate appropriation to the States in the region.


Earlier, Governor Akpabio had called for more budgetary allocation from the Federation Account to Akwa Ibom State.


He said that the deplorable State of Federal roads in Akwa Ibom State was militating against the development of the area.
