Plateau State Govt receives £300,000 from the Dariye loot
The Federal Government has handed over a cheque for three hundred thousand pounds to Plateau State Government being part of the funds starched away in London by the former Governor, Chief Joshua Dariye.
The money was handed over by the Minister of Justice, Mr. Michael Aondoakaa to the accountant General of Plateau State, Mr. Sylvester Davan and the State Director of Public Prosecution, Mr. Justine Manomi in Abuja.
Presenting the cheque, the Minister explained that the foreign firm assisting the Federal Government to recover the money ran into disagreement with his office between May and November this year because it deducted about three thousand pounds from the public funds without government’s approval.
This is the second time the British Government is returning funds alleged to have been looted by the former Governor.
About one million pounds is estimated as the remaining sum starched abroad by the former Plateau State Governor.
