Minister signs MOU for gas gathering with a foreign consortium

A memorandum of understanding for gas gathering in the Onshore and offshore, South East of Niger Delta has been signed.

Signing the MOU with a foreign consortium the Minister of State for Energy, Gas, Emmanuel Olatunde Odusina said the MOU was part of effort to harmonize and harness the potential gas reserve for the economic growth of the country.

He said credible and competent investors were free to invest in the gas projects.
Responding, the Chairman of the Consortium, Shiv Vikran Khemka said though theirs might not be the largest gas company, they were committed to working hard to bring their competence to bear.

In a remark, a member of the Petroleum Upstream Committee, Nimi Barigha Amange said the National Assembly was trying to ensure that a law backing the activities of the executive was made.
He added that the power sector depended largely on gas.
