Gov commends UNDPintervention in the area of good governance
Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River State has commended the United Nations Development Programmes intervention in the area of good governance, environment, HIV/AIDS and poverty reduction, stressing that they were relevant to the development of the state.
The Governor gave the commendation when he received the UNDP Resident Representative, Ms Mary Symonds in Calabar.
He said his administration would implement the programmes which were meant to improve the living condition of the citizenry.
Governor Imoke noted that the intervention programme had strengthened the institution of government and appeal that the state be reconsidered for the next phase of the programme.
Earlier, the State Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme, UNDP, Ms Mary Symmonds said the intervention programmes were selected after the State Economic Empowerment Development Strategy.
