Ebonyi: Respect marital vows - Catholic priest

A Catholic priest, the Reverend Father Livinus Obijiofor wants Christian fathers to respect their marital vows of fidelity and caring for their homes.

This is to protect their marriage and family from all forms of external influences capable of disintegrating their sacred union.

 The Reverend Father Obijiofor made the call during a special mass, marking this year’s Father’s Day celebration at St. Patrick’s Parish Kpirikpiri, Abakaliki.

  He said there were more troubles in the society today because some fathers had abdicated their divine mandate of fending for their families.

While calling on the fathers to be responsible pillars of their homes, the Reverend Father enjoined wives to give a helping hand for the smooth running of their families.

Correspondent reports that the celebration of Fathers Day in the Catholic Church in Nigeria is done every first Sunday of May.
