Unity Govt: AD gives support, says it is for democratic development

AS discussion on the formation of a unity government with opposition parties’ progresses, the Alliance for Democracy (AD) has thrown its weight behind the process in the interest of democratic development.
 

In a 19-point communiqué signed by Iniobong Elder Jackson and Rev Manzo Abubakar, deputy national chairman (South) and national secretary respectively, after a national caucus meeting in Lagos recently, the party also made case for a website for AD to facilitate access to the activities of the party globally.

Some of the resolutions of the meeting were that the presidential candidate of the party in the last April election, Chief Pere Ajuwa should desist from making policy statement on behalf of he party unless authorized to do so, while the Special Adviser to the National Chairman, Barrister Aworele was warned against participating and taking minutes for the party during a decision making deliberations.

While the party’s fund was directed to be domiciled in Abuja, the meeting, also pledged more funds for the secretary to operate while other relevant officers of the party were said to be eligible for financial remunerations.

The commuique also called for the filling of all vacant zonal offices, as well as settlement of perceived constitutional breaches by the party officers, so as to have hitch free NEC meeting.
In order to have focus and direction, the meeting also challenged the party to draw a comprehensive programme of activities for the next four year.
