NUJ organizes workshop on post election reporting in Nigeria

A two day workshop on post election reporting in Nigeria, organized by the Abuja Council of the NUJ, has ended with a call on journalists to uphold the ethics of the profession and ensure unbiased reportage of political activities.

In a communiqué, participants stressed the need for free flow of information between actors in the electoral process and the media with a view to creating mutual relationship.

They urged the security agencies to respect the constitutional right of journalists to seek information and hold government accountable to the people in line with the constitution.
It also called on journalists to show greater interest in the activities of the NUJ and contribute towards making it a virile professional body.

Two papers on comparative analysis of election coverages and social responsibility in election coverages were presented.
