Bayelsa Elders Council charges Boundary Commission

The Bayelsa Elders Council has called on the National Boundary Commission to expedite action on the rationalization of the border between Bayelsa and Rivers State.

 

The Secretary General of the Council, Elder Zee Debekeme made the call in an interview with Radio Nigeria in Abuja.

Elder Debekeme said that the Orashi River was the natural Boundary between Rivers and Bayelsa state.

The Secretary General sited an example with the boundary between Bayelsa and Rivers States.

Elder Debekeme also called for the creation of more local government areas in Bayelsa State by a federal government.

He regretted that development efforts had been hampered because of the lowest number of eight local government areas in the country.
