Nigerians cannot afford crisis in the polity – PDP
The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP Professor Ahmed Alkali says Nigerians cannot afford crisis in the polity.
Speaking on platform, a radio Nigeria Network Programme, Professor Alkali remarked that building democracy in a developing economy would require a lot of patience and sacrifice.
He therefore urged Nigerians at all level to imbibe a democratic culture. Professor Alkali observed that in fighting within the political class was depriving the people of the much needed socio-economic development.
Also speaking on the Programme, the National Chairman of the National Solidarity Democratic Party NSDP, chief Udemba Chukwudolue expressed delight that the country had moved to a higher political order.
Chief Chukwudolue called for legal provision that will enable voters to seek justice in the court whenever they feel cheated during elections. Another guest on the programme, Mrs. Funmilayo Awomolo said an aggrieved candidate in any election should feel free to challenge the result of the election in court. She maintained that the tenure of a Governor would start the day he was sworn-in.
