Tuga-Bello: Niger Basin needs 173 billion for Capital Project
One hundred and seventy-three Billion Naira is required for Capital Projects of the Niger Basin Development Authority.
The Executive Secretary of the Authority, Mr Mohammed Tuga-Bello said in Abuja that the three major projects were restoration of ecological system, development of socio-economic infrastructure and capacity building.
Mr Tuga-Bello explained that the projects were under the Paris Declaration of Shared Vision for sustainable development of the Basin Authority.
The document was adopted by the Heads of the Nine-member Countries at the end of their summit in Paris in 2004.
The Executive Secretary said the Nine-member Countries, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Mali, Niger, Guinea, Cote d’Ivoire and Chad were the major beneficiaries of the projects.
According to him, the document would be submitted to the Summit of the Heads of State in February for final approval.
