Okereke calls on Govt to implement rural dev policy

The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Rural Development, Mr Darlington Okereke, has called on Government to implement the Integrated Rural Development Policy.

 

Mr Okereke said on Platform, a Radio Nigeria Special Programme, that this Year’s Appropriation Bill did not adequately capture the demands of rural areas of the country.

Mr Okereke who is representing the Onitsha/Ivo/Ohazara Federal Constituency of Ebonyi State contended that expect Youths were gainfully employed, they would continue to be used as political thugs.

Also speaking on the Programme, a Public Affairs Analyst, Mr Anyim Ikoro, advocated that public offices should be made less attractive.

Mr Ikoro said there was need for relevant Agencies of Government and Civil Society Organisations to enlighten the people on the essence of elections.
