Senate C’ttee to ensure that strike by NUT did not derail education

The Senate Committee on Education has expressed its determination to ensure that the incessant strikes by various academic bodies did not derail the educational development targets of the Federal Government.

In a statement, the Chairman of the Committee Senator Joy Emodi called on the Nigerian Union of teachers, NUT to use dialogue as the only avenue for resolving the crisis.

Senator Emodi, who described NUT as the most responsible Trade Union in the country, said the falling standard of the education system could only be tackled through the spirit of patriotism and maturity.

Senator Emodi said that the Committee would do everything within its powers to ensure harmony in the education sector and bring an end to the current NUT strike.
