WHO commends the Federal Capital Administration for the ban on smoking

The World Health Organisation, WHO, has commended the Federal Capital Administration for the ban on smoking in public places in the Territory.

 

World Health Representatives in Nigeria, Dr Peter Eriki who gave the commendation, said the organisation’s framework convention on Tobacco Control had been ratified by thirty five countries in Africa.

He said the framework contained evidence based policies for reducing Tobacco use.
The World Health Representative told News Agency of Nigeria that a ban on Tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship was a powerful tool to protect youths from Tobacco use.
