NERC: Nigerians to be educated on the power sector reforms

A nationwide campaign to mobilise and educate Nigerians on the reforms in the power sector is soon to take off.

A memorandum of understanding in that regard was signed yesterday in Abuja between the national orientation agency and the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission.

Areas to be covered under the initiative include educating Nigerians on the need to pay their electricity bills promptly, avoiding illegal connection, vandalism and other acts detrimental to effective electricity generation, transmission and distribution.

On the Occasion, the chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, Dr Ransome Owan said the initiative was part of efforts to make Nigerians at the grassroots to become more enlightened on their role in ensuring stable power supply.

In a message delivered by the Executive Director, Orientation and peace education, Mr Duamlong Wulam, the Director-General of the NOA, Mallam Idi Frouk pledged that his organisation would ensure the success of the exercise.
