Obasanjo: Economic reforms still on course

On Monday, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Former President, confessed that the nation has not arrived at its economic reform target, but could arrive there in the year 2020 if it continues on the advancement already being made.

He did not elaborate on his submission but called on Nigerians to embrace democracy whatever may be its teething problems, adding that the problems associated with democracy may not be unconnected with the fact that it is a new experience for Nigeria.

Obasanjo spoke to newsmen in his Ota Farm, Ogun State, shortly after Governor Gbenga Daniel paid an Independence Anniversary visit to him.
The former President said Nigerians must be thankful to God that they still remained one and inseparable despite the civil war which could have divided the country.

Obasanjo, speaking on democratic development in the country, said Nigeria should not be compared with other countries that have been practicing the system for a long time, noting that with time the country would get there.

Gbenga Daniel commended Obasanjo for what he has been able to do for his fatherland while he was the President.
Daniel described the former President as the architect of modern Nigeria and the greatest leader the country ever produced.
