Emir calls on NASS to stop on going strike by teachers
           
The Emir of Zamfara-Anka, Alhaji Attahiru Ahmad has called for the quick intervention of the National Assembly to stop the on going nationwide strike by teachers.

 

He gave the advise in Birnin Kebbi at the Launch of the second phase of “Enhancing Girls Education” in Northern Nigeria.

The Emir warned that the consequences of the teachers strike could retard education development in the country.

Alhaji Attahiru Ahmad advised Governments in the northern states to accord special attention to girl’s education as well as enacts a law against the withdrawal of girls from school.

Launching the programme, the wife of the Acting Governor of Kebbi State, Hajia Fatima Ibrahim gave an assurance that government would encourage parents, especially rural dwellers to send their female children to school.

Radio Nigeria reports that the programme is being financed by Action AID International and implemented in selected Local Government Areas of Sokoto, Zamfara and Kebbi States.
