Comparing Performance with other PSBs
To compare your organisation's performance with that of other Public Service Broadcasters is very beneficial when reaching funding settlements. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation is running just such a scheme. Information from standard and obvious Key Performance Indicators is forwarded to them on a confidential basis and made into comparative tables, so that your performance can be compared with an average.
Fulvio Barbuio, Head, Corporate Treasury and Performance Measurement at ABC is running the scheme. He has also produced a pamphlet about it which can be downloaded as a PDF here <http://www.cba.org.uk/Publications/Performance_Measurement.php> .
The ABC is planning a conference in Sydney later in the year for the participants in this scheme, confined to those who have shared data. The CBA would like to urge all those collecting good KPI data to consider joining the ABC scheme, to download the pamphlet and to contact Fulvio Barbuio by e-mail: Barbuio.Fulvio@abc.net.au.

Pick of the Commonwealth
For May's edition of Pick of the Commonwealth Robin White visits the
Indian Ocean island of Mauritius. This island nation has no natural
resources, and is home to a wide variety of ethnic groups. Its British and
French colonial history is still visible. It's now a tourist destination
known to many as the former home of the long extinct dodo. Robin's guide
is Rishi Gopaul, television news editor at the Mauritius Broadcasting
Corporation. Amongst other things they visit a very expensive tourist
site, an international call centre, and a huge knitting factory. They also
ponder what it means to be Mauritian.
