Senate C’ttee denies role in alleged mismanagement of health funds

The Senate Committee on Health

says it did not play any role in the alleged mismanagement of funds by the Ministry of Health.

A statement signed by the Clerk of the Committee, Mr Edobor said contrary to speculations, the Committee did not benefit from any Christmas bonus or gift from the Federal Ministry of Health.

It said that the Committee only acknowledged the sum of ten million Naira from the Ministry meant for a retreat on the National Health Policy Bill in Ghana.

The statement said the Committee also acknowledged the fact that the Ministry’s support for the retreat was in consonance with the Senate’s Code of ethics.

The statement further stated that the receipt of the ten million Naira for the retreat which took place last month was duly signed for by the then Secretary of the Committee.
