Kwara: Tribunal nullifies election of two PDP candidates

The Kwara State Election Petition

Tribunal has annulled the election of two PDP candidates into the House of Assembly.

The PDP candidates, Muraina Ayantola and Kola Bukoye were declare winners of the April 14, elections by INEC.

The Petitioners, Hassan Oyeleke  and Tope Olarinoye of the Action Congress through their Counsel, Mr. Rasheed Ijaodola contested the validity of the polls and the power of INEC to cancel the April 14th 2007 election.

Counsel to the respondents, Mr. Abdulwahab Egbewole argued that the petitioners were not proper candidates; hence there was no proper election as claimed.

In his judgement, Justice Mashood Abass declared the April 28, 2007 election as nullity and upheld that of April 14 in favour of the AC candidates.
