FG appeals to Doctors to suspend planned strike action

A one-day warning strike planned
 

by resident Doctors has attracted the Federal government’s attention which appealed to them to suspend the action.

The appealed was contained in a communiqué after a meeting between the Minister of Labour, Dr Hassan Lawal, Minister of State for Health, Chief Gabriel Aduku, the President, Nigeria Medical Association and first Vice President of the Association.

It was resolved that negotiation on the grievances of the Nigeria Medical Association would be concluded by the end of this month and would be forwarded to President Umaru Musa Yar’adua for a decision.


On his part, the Minister of State for Health, Chief Gabriel Aduku reminded the medical doctors of the sanctity of human life and urged them to be patient.
The Resident Doctors are protesting the discrepancy in their duty call allowances.
